Datacard Group Introduces Easy-to-Integrate Kiosk Card Printer

Minnetonka, Minn., October 24, 2007.
Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, today introduced the Datacard® SP55k kiosk card printer. Developed exclusively for integration into kiosks, the card printer delivers proven reliability, easy operation and three flexible configurations that complement a wide variety of on-site, self-service kiosks.

“The ability to immediately distribute cards to end users in many dispersed locations puts kiosks in high demand in a variety of markets, including the retail, hospitality, financial and transportation sectors,” said Connell Smith, vice president of desktop solutions for Datacard Group. “The SP55k kiosk card printer is built on the Datacard® SP55 print engine, which gives it the proven reliability that is critical for unattended operation. In addition, its several configuration options support numerous kiosk styles—a truly cost effective solution for large scale installations.”

The card printer features a metal mounting frame that allows kiosk integrators to affix the printer securely in the kiosk housing. It also comes with detailed technical documentation to help determine the optimal configuration for each kiosk design and an optional Datacard® printer driver SDK to simplify the overall integration process.

The SP55k kiosk card printer issues full-color, personalized cards with magnetic stripes and bar codes as well as contact and contactless smart cards. It utilizes Datacard® Certified Supplies featuring Intelligent Supplies Technology™. The card printer recognizes these supplies when they are loaded and automatically adjusts settings to optimize print quality. This minimizes operator intervention, reducing overall cost per card.

“Our three decades of card printer and printing experience go into the SP55k kiosk card printer,” said Smith. “End users will be impressed with their ability to self-issue high quality, full color cards.”
